This page explains how to delete your Chess MMR account, run by Cognitive Squad Private Limited, and what happens to your data when you do.
Delete it yourself, in the app
- Open the Chess MMR app and sign in.
- Go to More → Settings.
- Scroll to Account and tap Delete account.
- Confirm. The account and its data are removed straight away.
Or ask us to delete it
Email support@cognitivesquad.com from the address you sign in with, with the subject "Delete my account". We delete the account within 30 days and reply when it is done. No other proof is needed: the request has to come from the signed-in address.
What is deleted
- Your sign-in account and the identity behind it — handle, emblem, and the email address the account uses.
- Your chess profile: rating, league, trophies, streaks, puzzle rating and Puzzle Rush bests.
- Your game history, puzzle attempts and lesson progress.
- Your friends, friend requests and challenges.
- Your notifications, and any room you created.
- Any YouTube channel connection, including the stored access token.
What is kept, and for how long
- Finished games stay in the other player's history, because they are that person's record too. Your handle is replaced with a placeholder in them.
- Payment records for any Premium subscription are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which in India is eight years. They are kept by the payment provider, not in the game.
- Backups roll off within 30 days, after which the deleted data is gone from those too.
Premium
Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. Cancel it in your store account first, or it will keep renewing. Cancelling a subscription, on its own, does not delete the account.
Voice chat
Voice chat is sent directly between the two players and is never recorded or stored, so there is nothing to delete.
